I don't see why you can't. I just think it has to be different games, not a different DS.

I recently tried that actually. I put up a level 2 starly in the GTS and asked for my high level poke from my other game, that way if someone tried to snag it, they'd get the starly, and not the high level one. Sadly, when I went to the GTS to search for said starly, the one I had put up did not come up as a result. Also, you can only trade in the GTS for pokemon you have physically seen in your game, so pidgey wont be avalable in the pokemon GTS game ( think, I dont recall ever seeing a pidgey in that game naturally.) My suggestion would be to find someone to do a trade-trade back. Trade to them from the game you want to get your pokemon from, then have them trade to your new game. I did that to get three of my team I've used since the beggining of my game (:

Yeah you can do that, the only problem is people sit on the trade connection waiting for people to put up good stuff and take it with hacked pokemon not that I know from experience, but I know it can work. I have both Diamond and Platinum and if you needed someone to trade with over wifi that you trust not to steal your pokemans, I'd be willing to help you out (I have all the pokemon in the pokedex, so it's not like I need to steal yours )
